The Kauri tree,
Big and overshadowing.
Its branches stretching out,
Leaves rustling in gentle zephyr.
I remember climbing it,
Higher and higher until I was lost,
Lost in its branches.
I thought it would live forever,
But now it is gone,
Forgotten.
Time passes,
Too fast for me to catch up,
But I try anyway,
Chasing after it,
My chest heaving,
My breaths quickening,
But no matter how fast I go,
It's always faster
